  Anak Krakatau Eruption 3 comments
  
  The Jakarta Post today reported "Anak Krakatau volcano, situated in the Sunda Strait, erupted 12 times on Sunday, spewing hot ash and debris into the atmosphere.
  
  The head of the volcano monitoring post in Pasauran, Banten, Anton Tripambudi, said volcanic tremors from Anak Krakatau had reached 5.575 on the Richter scale on Saturday evening".
  
  So there may still be hope yet for an Eruption Special visit on the 30th October!

  The SunDaily in Malaysia reports yesterday….
  
  “JAKARTA (Oct 22, 2011): Indonesia's Anak Krakatau (Child of Krakatau) volcano in the Sunda Strait is showing increased seismic activity lately and there are fears there might be a bigger eruption at the volcano compared to the one in 2007”
  
  It also adds: “Indonesia's Vulcanology and Geological Disasters Mitigation Centre head Surono said Krakatau was experiencing over 5,000 tremors a day now.Gas leaks from the volcano had also caused Krakatau to be shrouded in a yellowish cloud, a phenomenon that has never happened, he was quoted as saying by Indonesia's Kompass daily today”

  Unfortunately, I don't think it is worth going and there are not enough inscriptions, too. So, we better wait a bit more.

  Expedition to Krakatau ? 1 comment
  
  If you are interested in a volcano special expedition to Krakatau, please let us know. If activity holds, the planned time would be around end of Oct / beginning of Nov, 4-5 days on and around Krakatau.
