 NASA image of Bagana from 16 May 2012 showing an active steaming lava flow
A new NASA satellite image reveals a fresh lava flow on Bagana volcano's eastern flank. It is unknown when the eruption started, but comparison with older images implies that it must have begun some time between March 2011 and February 2012. ...mehrBagana is of the most active volcanoes in Papua New Guinea, but extremely remote and there is no ground-based monitoring, which is why satellites provide the most reliable and timely means of monitoring. According to setyoufreenews.com, Mt Lamington volcano in New Guinea is showing some signs of becoming active. According to the brief news, locals from the community of Popendetta reported "smoke and ash emission on March 25". Februar. ...mehrDer letzten bestätigten Ausbruch des Vulkans entfernten wurde am 12. Januar 1979, aber mehrere ähnliche Asche Federn mit einer möglichen Ursprung von Karkar Vulkan wurden in den letzten Jahren gemeldet.
