Kürzlich wurde ein Teil der Lavadom im Krater des Poas Vulkans zeigt Bereiche der Weißglut und Flammen des brennenden Gases. Das betroffene Gebiet ist etwa 80 m lang, im nördlichen Teil der 1953-55 Lavadom neben dem Kratersee und konzentrierte sich rund 2 Risse, die gewachsen sind vor kurzem entfernt. Das Gebiet ist die gleiche wie die Herkunft der phreatic Explosionen in den letzten 2 Jahren. Eine ähnliche Frist von Weißglut der Kuppel aufgetreten im Jahr 1981.
