Die neue Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Tätigkeitsbericht zusammengefasst: -- new activity --- Bezymianny (Kamchatka): strong explosive eruption on 9 March, ash plumes from explosion and pyroclastic flows rising to 8 km (26,200 ft) altitude a.s.l. and plume drifting 700 km NE Cleveland (Aleutians): small explosions on 7 and 9 March Ijen (East Java, Indonesia): raised alert because of increased seismicity and visual observations Iliamna (Alaska): increasing seismic activity, alert raised to yellow Lamongan (East Java, Indonesia): raised alert because of increased seismic activity and steaming Marapi (Sumatra, Indonesia): ash eruptions in early March Nevado del Ruiz (Colombia): significant increase in seismicity during 5-11 March, large gas plume Tungurahua (Ecuador): increasing activity on 12-13 March with ash plumes 2-3 km high and ash fall in areas W and SW of the volcano. --- ongoing activity --- Karmysky (Kamchatka): possible ash plumes to an altitude of 3.4 km (11,000 ft) a.s.l. on 3 March, thermal anomaly Kilauea (Hawai'i): lava flows continued to advance down the pali and across the coastal plain, active lava lake in Halema'uma'u Kizimen (Kamchatka): moderate seismic activity, large lava flow on the E flank and accompanying hot avalanches Puyehue-Cordón Caulle (Chile): eruption continuing at low levels, ash and steam plumes reaching 0.7-1.2 km height and drifting 30-50 km to the east Sakura-jima (Japan): increased activity with plumes from explosions reaching up to 3 km altitude Santa Maria / Santigaguito (Guatemala): ash explosions up to 800-1000 m high, viscous lava flow on S, SW and NE flank of dome Shiveluch (Kamchatka): low seismic activity, small viscous lava flow in the 2010 crater, moderate fumarolic activity at the lava dome, thermal anomaly Villarica (Chile): 2 small ash emissions from Villarica occurred on 7 March.
