Ruins of houses at the potash factory at Dallol - until the 1970s, workers lived here and extracted potash from the salt deposits of Dallol. The potash was used as fertilizer. The place was known as the hottest inhabited place on earth, and living conditions were extremely harsh in this hostile environment. Now, the settlement and the factory is a field of ruins only.
