A slight increase of seismic activity has been noted recently. On 12 May, 5 small quakes occurred in the western part of the island at depths of 2-17 km. It is unlikely that this is a precursor of a new eruptive phase, but rather reflects residual magma movements and minor tectonic adjustments at the recently emplaces dikes beneath the island. Since about 2 hours ago, tremor from Etna has started to rise steeply, suggesting that the next (26th) paroxysm of the New SE crater is probably imminent. Since last night (28 April), new strombolian activity has been observed from Etna's New SE crater. With all likelihood, this announces another paroxysm to occur in the next few days. This would then be the 26th since 2011 when the series of eruptions began, or the 7th in 2012. [alles lesen]

11 days following the last eruption, the 25th paroxysm of Etna's New SE crater is happening at the time of writing in the evening 23 April. It started around 16:00 hrs local time with week Strombolian explosions accompanied by a steeply increasing tremor. [alles lesen]

The 24th paroxysm occurred today at Etna's New SE crater. The main phase lasted between 16:30-17:15 local time and produced tall lava fountains and a lava flow. [alles lesen]

The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has published images of glowing lava seen floating at a depth of 70 m. This shows that the eruption continues. [alles lesen]
After about 6 weeks of calm, another seismic swarm has started yesterday at Santorini, clustered in the NE sector of the island and near the submarine Kolumbo volcano. The quakes are very small and will not have been felt. The largest was a magnitude 2.0 quake on 18 March at 10:37 GMT at 11 km depth beneath Kolumbo volcano. [alles lesen]

Ein schwacher Fleck wurde heute über die u-Boot vor Ort in Las Calmas Meer südlich von La Restinga sichtbar, und Whirlpool aufgetreten ist schwach heute Morgen um 07:30. Vulkanische Tremor scheint weiterhin konstant, obwohl minimal Ebenen. Dies deutet darauf hin, dass die Eruption in der Tat weiter. [alles lesen]

Zur Erleichterung von Santorini Einwohner, seismische Aktivität unter dem Vulkan und in der Nähe der Insel, die Schwärme erlebt hatten und erhöhten in den letzten Monaten scheint sich fortzusetzen, ruhig zu bleiben. [alles lesen]
Am 5. März schrieb das Instituto Geografico, dass die Eruption, die am 10. Oktober 2011 begonnen hatte, beendet wurde .... mehr In der Tat sind seismische und visuelle Aktivität nicht vollständig fehlen, aber nur in sehr geringen Mengen mit zunehmenden Abstand von vollständiger Abwesenheit. Da es keine direkte Beobachtung des U-Boot-Schlot um festzustellen, ob Lava wird immer noch brach, ist es schwierig zu sagen, ob der Ausbruch beendet ist. Gelegentliche strombolianische Explosionen sind vom Gipfel Vent von der neuen SE-Krater auftreten. Im Moment ist der Tremor Signal sehr gering und nicht angibt, dass ein Anfall in der näheren Zukunft zu erwarten ist. [alles lesen]
Kein sofortiges Ende der Eruptionen ist in Sicht, obwohl es bei minimaler Intensität weiter. Vulkanische Tremor hat sich zu einem schwachen und Konstante erholt, und gelegentlich ein oder zwei Spots mit gefärbten Wasser auf der Meeresoberfläche beobachtet wurden. ...Mehr Erdbebenaktivität wird fortgesetzt mit 5-10 meist sehr klein, aber etwas stärker im Vergleich zu vorherigen Wochen, zentriert Beben rund 10 km Tiefe meist in den südlich-zentralen Teil der Insel. Diese Beben könnte schlagen vor, daß Eindringen von Magma in der oberen Kruste unterhalb der Insel weiter, und es gibt eine kleine Chance, die neue Öffnungen eröffnen könnte. Sporadische strombolianische Aktivität hat bei der neuen SE-Krater früh am 29. Februar wieder aufgenommen. Explosionen haben in unterschiedlichen Abständen zwischen einigen Minuten und mehr als 2 Stunden wurden vorkommenden. Die Explosionen waren bis zu einigen zehn Meter hoch und gelegentlich warf glühende Bomben auf die Südflanke des Kegels. [alles lesen]
