An explosion occurred last night at 21:02 UTC lasting for 6.5 minutes and sending an ash plume to an estimated altitude of about 30,000 ft (7-8 km), KVERT reports. The eruption was not observed directly, but inferred from seismic data.
Sonntag, Mai 19, 2013
The activity of the growing lava dome continues with little changes. KVERT reports moderate seismic activity, moderate gas-steam activity and incandescence.
Mittwoch, Mai 15, 2013
Lava dome growth continues. This morning, an explosion and/or a partial collapse produced a volcanic ash cloud rising to 15,000 ft (4.7 km) altitude this morning by VAAC Tokyo. ...mehr
Montag, Apr 22, 2013
A possible explosion or partial lava dome collapse produced a modest ash plume yesterday rising to 12,000 ft (3.7 km) altitude (VAAC Tokyo). KVERT reports no significant changes and continues to record moderate tremor levels, indicating that magma continues to rise and slowly build up the lava dome.
Sonntag, Apr 14, 2013
KVERT reports no significant change in the activity (seismic and surface). Lava flows continue to effuse from the southern fissure. Tremor remains high, although it has continued to slowly decrease. ...mehr
Samstag, Apr 06, 2013
Moderate seismic activity and weak shallow earthquakes were registered. Hot avalanches (collapse of parts of the growing dome) and possibly explosions accompanying this process produced a plume rising to 20,000 ft (6 km) altitude yesterday. Strong degassing and steaming are continuous.
Dienstag, Apr 02, 2013
No changes in activity occurred. Moderate seismic activity accompanies ongoing lava dome growth, KVERT mentions.
Mittwoch, Mär 20, 2013
The growth of the lava dome continues, accompanied by moderate seismic activity, and is visible as a large hot spot on MODIS satellite data.
Sonntag, Mär 10, 2013
An ash plume, presumably from an explosion at the dome, rose to 19,800 ft (6.0 km) altitude yesterday, KVERT reported. Seismicity continues to be moderate, and strong steaming-degassing accompanies the process of the lava dome growth.
Samstag, Mär 09, 2013
An eruption generated an ash plume that rose to estimated 20,000 ft (about 6 km) this morning, VAAC Tokyo reported. The event was probably caused by another partial dome collapse and/ or explosion at the growing lava dome.
Mittwoch, Mär 06, 2013
Several (3 or 4) relatively larg collapses of the lava dome occurred today between between 05:00 and 06:30 (GMT). The events triggered pyroclastic flows which traveled through the valley between the active dome and a relict flank of an older dome to the east. The largest flow reached about 4 km distance. ...mehr
Freitag, Mär 01, 2013
A viscous lava flow continues to effuse on the eastern flank of the lava dome. Strong and moderate fumarolic activity and incandescence of the dome summit and hot avalanches accompanies this process. (KVERT weekly update).
Dienstag, Feb 26, 2013
KVERT reports only weak seismic activity today, indicating the volcano is in a phase of lower activity.
Mittwoch, Feb 20, 2013
A small partial collapse of the active lava dome occurred last night at 23h45 (GMT) and produced a relatively small pyroclastic flow, followed by mud flows towards the ravine at the NE flank. ...mehr
Dienstag, Feb 19, 2013
A possible ash explosion sent ash up to 16,500 ft (5.0 km) a.s.l. KVERT registered moderate seismicity, but clouds obscured the view of the volcano.
Sonntag, Feb 17, 2013
KVERT reports moderate seismicity and a thermal anomaly over the volcano visible on satellite data, indicating that the lava dome remains active.
Sonntag, Feb 10, 2013
A viscous lava flow continues to effuse on the eastern flank of the lava dome, strong and moderate fumarolic activity and incandescence of the dome summit and hot avalanches accompanies this process. Satellite data showed a thermal anomaly over the lava dome. (KVERT) ...mehr
Montag, Jan 21, 2013
The lava dome continues to grow. A moderate explosion occurred last night, producing an ash plume that rose to between 8,000 ft (1.8 km) (VAAC Tokyo) and 13,000 ft (4 km) (KVERT) altitude. ...mehr
Freitag, Jan 11, 2013
Explosive-extrusive-effusive eruption of the volcano continues. According to visual and satellite data, a viscous lava flow continues to effuse on the north-western flank of the lava dome, strong and moderate fumarolic activity and incandescence of the dome summit and hot avalanches accompanies this process. ...mehr [alles lesen]
Mittwoch, Jan 09, 2013
Activity continues to build the lava dome which sheds hot avalanches from time to time. Incandescence above the summit of the lava dome was observed. Satellite data shows a thermal anomaly over the volcano. Moderate seismicity and strong degassing accompany this activity. (KVERT)
