I was on a flight yesyerday from Jember to Surabaya with 2 friends and saw Mt Semeru explode at app. 09.37 on the 18 Oct 2008. We were about 20 km from the mountain when I noticed the the top had a small gray mushroom at the top with in a minute or so i was extremley greater in size. I would not be able to guess how high it rose but it was larger than the clouds around. I'm just sending this message as I did not read anything in the news. Regards Denis Benjak
