It is reported that Galeras volcano erupted on santurday 2nd January. There are no reports about destructions or victims.

Galeras volcano erupted on Nov 20, causing heavy ash fall and the evacuation of more than 1000 people in surrounding villages.

Chaitén's lava dome continues its growth and can shed pyroclastic flows and produce ash eruptions at all times. The alert level remains at its highest (red).
The lava dome of Nevado del Huila continues to grow rapidly as INGEOMINAS reports. The volume of the new lava dome is estimated as nearly 25 million cubic meters. Small collapses occurred on the W part of the dome and gas
emissions were sometimes accompanied by pulsating ash emissions. Sulfur dioxide plumes rose 2.5 km above the lava dome and were seen in satellite imagery and the web camera drifting with the prevailing winds.

Galeras volcano's seismic activity has drastically increased over the past days and INGEOMINAS issues a warning that an eruption could be imminent.
Sonntag, Apr 05, 2009
A new eruption started at Llaima volcano on 4 April 09. Lava fountains and stormbolian activity from the summit vents fed lava flows travelling down the slope of the volcano.

In the time of 24 February to 3rd March strong eruptions & explosions were reported, that threw out ash to altitudes of 10 km and blocks were rolling down the volcano.
Gas plumes and ash plumes were reported from Galeras in the time 25 february to 2nd March. The Alert Level was lowered to yellow.
On 24 February it was reported that a partial dome collapse of Chaitén's Domo Nuevo 1 lava-dome complex a large amount of material accumulated in the basal ring depression surrounding the dome complex and throughout the Blanco River valley. Steam plumes with little ash content and explosions were noted.
On 26 February, it was reported that plumes rose 2 km above the complex. During 26-27 February, there was another small dome collapse.
27 February, the South part of Domo Nuevo 1 continued to grow. Numerous fan-shaped deposits from collapses were
seen on the S slope. During 27 February, and 2-3 March plumes rose to
altitudes of 2.1-2.4 km and Plumes drifted East on 27
February and SE on 3 March.

Chaitén volcano experienced an increase in activity over the past few weeks. Yesterday, around 11 am local time on 19 Feb., a largere section of the growing lava dome in the crater collapsed, triggering a large pyroclastic flow that came close to the already largely abandoned town of Chaitén. According to press reports, heavy ash falls occurred in the area and the evacuation of the remaining residents of the town is under way. ONEMI reports the eruption of a considerable column of ash.
Similar future events triggering pyroclastic flows, as well as mud flows by remobilization of fresh ash by rains could occur any time and threaten what is left of the town of Chaitén.

Galeras volcano's activity descreased after the eruption on 14 February and INGEOMINAS lowered the alert level from Red (highest) to Yellow.
Visual observation showed a column of steam rising to about 300m above the summit, with a plume extending south-east for about 8km, probably generated by heated (rain)water with hot rocks in the upper parts of the volcano's edifice.
Sonntag, Feb 15, 2009
A new eruption started at Galeras volcano in south-western Colombia on 14 Feb. 2009. INGEOMINAS reported an ash explosion at 19h10 local time accompanied by a strong pressure wave, strong ash fall and release of large quantities of sulphur dioxide gas. The city of Pasto and nearby areas suffered from ash fall, but no fatailities or accidents have been reported caused by the eruption.
About 40 minutes after the initial explosion, seismicity calmend down, but INGEOMINAS warns of possibly following eruptive episodes.

On 11 January there was an ash plume at Ubinas that was rosing to an altitude of 7.3 km.
It was reported that there were ash emissions and gas plumes from cones inside Llaima's crater at 30 December-6 January.
Donnerstag, Jan 15, 2009
It was reported that during 29 December-9 January Chaitén's lava dome continued to grow. Plumes rose to altitudes of 2.6-3.1 km. Block-and-ash flows from frequent spine collapses fell down from the edge.
On a flight it was seen that 9 January Domo Nuevo 1 and Domo Nuevo 2 filled up the 3-km-wide inner caldera. Activity was concentrated on the S part of Domo Nuevo 2. Argentine Airlines resumed flights into Esquel airport (about 120 km E) on 12 January, because of ash. Web camera views reported that on 10 and 12 January ash plumes continuously were rosing.
It was reported that during 7-12 January there were visible steam-and-ash plumes from Tungurahua, ash fell within 8 km and roaring, explosions, and "cannon shot" noises were reported. Also incandescence blocks were ejected from the crater and rolled down the flanks.
Freitag, Nov 21, 2008
During 12-17November ash plumes from Chaitén continuously rose to altitudes 1.4-3.7 km and a thermal anomaly was detected on satellite photos on 12 November
On Reventador's crater a slight incandescence was seen during 11-12 November and a high number of rockfalls was reported by seismic signals on 13-18 November. Probably from the lava-flow-fronts.
Occasional gas emissions and ash were observed on 11 November on Nevado del Huila and also stron sulfur odors and ashfall was reported on 12-18 November. Ash fall is going on and also there is still the danger of volcanic eruptions. The alert level remains at ORANGE.

The new lava dome of Chaitén volcano continues to grow and emit a dense plume of mainly vapour, typically rising to ca. 2 km altitude. Seismic activity beneath the volcano remains high.
Heavy rainfalls cause the Chaitén river and tributaries to transform into mud flows and overflow their natural and artificial banks. Water and mud have been destroying ever larger parts of Chaité city, which is now almost completely abandoned.
