Your equipment and gear - Kilimanjaro climbing
It's not allowed to bring suitcases for the trek (but you can of course deposit your suitcase in the hotel at the base). Waterproof rucksacks or duffel/sausage bags are recommended. During the trekking, you only need to carry a small daypack with those items you want to have near your all the time while trekking (e.g. some water, snacks, layers of cloths to put on or off during the trekking, your camera). Porters will carry all your other luggage, but please observe the weight limitations: if you choose the "Standard option", you can bring up to 15 kg. If you can do with less weight and thus save money on porters, you should opt for the "Lightweight option" (8 kg per person).
Equipment & clothing - what to bring
Whether will be an enjoyable one, depends very much on having the right outfit. Your clothing must adapt to changing climate conditions ranging from tropical to arctic, so a layered concept of clothing is the most suitable. Although some equipment and cloths can be rented or bought in Tanzania, it is recommended to bring everything with you. The following is a list recommended equipment for the Kilimanjaro trekking:
