Tag 1:Transfer from Arusha to Lake Natron Transfer from Arusha to Lake Natron base camp through the Rift Valley. It takes about 6 hours to get there.

Tag 2-3:2 days at Lake Natron (+ option to climb Lengai volcano) Two full days to explore the area: Lake Natron (Flamingoes!), hike to a waterfall in a deep gorge, visit a Maassai village etc.
If you are up to the challenge and a very strenous climb, you can opt for a climb to Lengai volcano (ca. 100-200 USD p.p.)

Tag 2:Climb Ol Doinyo Lengai - camp on top Early in the morning, you get up and prepare for the climb to Ol Doinyo Lengai. While porters carry the equipment and our water for the light camp, we ascend along an ever steepening ridge until you reach the inactive south crater, after 3-7 hrs climbing (depending on your pace). On the south crater, a light camp is set up in the midst of an ash desert, created by Lengai's recent eruptions in 2007/2008. You have the whole afternoon, the night and the next morning for observations of the active ash cone and exploration of the crater area.

Tag 3-4:Comfortable break near Lake Natron After a 2 to 4 hours descent our cars pick us up at the base. From then on we have a relaxed and comfortable one and a half day near fascinating Lake Natron. We visit the Lake with its thousands of flamingos and take a swim in a paradisiacal waterfall in a narrow gorge with wonderful stone formations… Here we find the desert rose as well.

Anreise:
The tour starts and ends in Arusha, a friendly, mid-sized town that is the main starting point for excursions in the area. You can easily combine the trek to Lengai with other activities (ask us about other safaris).
Unterkunft:
Accommodation is based on double room or tent occupancy.
- Camping at Lake Natron & Lake Manyara: a comfortable well-equipped camping site with fresh running water, a bar, (basic) toilet facilities but superbly located and well managed.
- Camping on Lengai volcano: no toilet tent, no dining tent. Normally, we bring only small chairs & sleeping tents + small mattresses. 1 personal porter per person, and porters to carry tents, food, gas cooker and pot for boiling water, and water. 1 guide for 1-5 pax, 2 guides for 6-10 pax.
Additional porters can, of course, be arranged on location (ca. 60 USD per porter one way).
- Accommodation in Arusha: your choice, but we recommend l'Oasis Lodge, a comfortable small hotel with clean, spacious rooms, a swimming pool, an excellent restaurant and modern facilities near the city center.
