Reiseleitung:

10 days trekking are accompanied by a professional French-English speaking guide. The excursion to Piton de la Fournaise volcano will be accompanied by a volcanologist from the Volcano Observatory.

Col du Taibit (photo: Cilaos Aventure)
Home to the Bourbon vanilla, located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, Réunion is the French counterpart to Hawai´i: a tropical paradise with one of the world's most active volcanoes, but also breathtaking mountain scenery offering extraordinary hiking possibilities to discover its geologically mysterious and difficult to access interior basins, the famous "cirques".
The combination of volcanic soil, tropical climate, and high mountains surrounded by tropical beaches and frequently active Piton de la Fournaise volcano, as well as the mix of French and Créole culture turn La Réunion into the perfect place for a vast variety of emotions to discover: coral beaches, lush forests full of tropical scents, steep gorges with waterfalls, high mountain peaks, and the exciting volcanic moonscape of Piton de la Fournaise.
This walking trip is accompanied by expert guides and volcanologists from Réunion and designed to discover the full variety of this remarkable island.

Cilaos – Kerveguen – Refuge du Piton des Neiges
"Tsilaosa": is in local dialect "where you feel well", but also "where one does not return"... As every morning, the weather is great in Cilaos, in the middle of the Cirque, surrounded 360° by tall vertical cliffs. We cross the village and take the Kerveguen exit, the least frequented, steepest but also shortest route out of the Cirque. The trail goes through dense rainforest and over blank rock, partly on steep stairs and leads us 700 m uphill. After 2-3 hrs we reach the Kerveguen ridge with its arid vegetation. We will spend the night here at the Caverne Duffour hut, enjoying the grand panorama over the sea of clouds in the Cirque and sunset over the Ocean.
