"Dozens of small earthquakes near a volcano in southwest Colombia were raising concerns Sunday of a possible eruption. More than 30 temblors have occurred within 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) of the Galeras volcano beginning Saturday Aug. 20, geologist Roberto Torres said. Several had a magnitude near 5 and seven were strong enough to be felt by people." Donnerstag, Aug 25, 2005
During 15-21 August, volcanic activity at Bagana remained at low levels. Activity at Kilauea is at low levels at present and only little lava can be seen: during the past week, the lava entry at the East Lae`Apuki point continued to be active, and a few surface lava flows were sometimes visible on the Pulama Pali fault scarp and the coastal flat. By 22 August, surface lava on the W branch of the PKK lava flow was no longer visible. Eruptive activity continues at Anatahan volcano in the Mariana Islands. Ash plumes, mainly observed by satellite and pilots, rise to heights of ~7.9 km (26,000 ft) a.s.l. Seismic activity continues at moderate levels. Dienstag, Aug 16, 2005

Semeru is in a state of high activity as observed by the VolcanoDiscovery team during the past days. Strong strombolian activity is taking place at frequent intervals of 5-10 minutes, producing billowing ash clouds of 1-2 km height and showering much of the summit cone with fresh gray ash. Fuego remains in constant activity. Jet-engine like sounds accompany minor gas and small ash emissions from the crater, while a blocky lava flow extends for about 500 m from the crater down the flank of the summit cone. Colima remains active, although the intensity has decreased during the past weeks. Typically, 3-5 minor to medium ash explosions are occurring per day at the volcano and an intensification of the eruption could occur at any time. Anatahan volcano remains in constant activity, with frequent explosions that produce an ash plume drifting at about 20,000 ft elevation and extending up to 200km.
The tiny uninhabited volcanic sub-antartic McDonald Island in the S Pacific (Australia) is erupting for the first time since 2001, when lava flows doubled its size from about 1.1 to 2.5 square kilometers. McDonald's first known historic eruption occurred in 1992.

![]() Image captured from the webcam at Colima volcano, showing the powerful explosion on the early morning of 27 July. Colima's Volcano of Fire had a spectacular, predawn explosion Wednesday 27 of July, shooting incandescent rock, ash and steam nearly 9,000 feet into the air over western Mexico. The eruption sent ash raining down on nearby communities, but officials had no reports of major damage. Mittwoch, Jul 20, 2005
Fuego volcano had a small explosive eruption on 17 July that produced an ash plume reaching a height of 3.5-4 km above the crater and producing small pyroclastic flows that traveled down Santa Teresa and Taniluyá ravines. ...mehrNo significant changes have been recorded at Popocatepetl volcano. Weak emission of ash and steam continue to occur at a rate of a few per day, lending a touch of romance to the snow-capped volcano. Dienstag, Aug 09, 2005

The explosive activity at Shiveluch volcano is increasing and the alert level has been breifly raised to its highest state of RED between 8 and 9 July. Moderate explosions took place during the past week, some of which produced ash plumes of up to 7 km a.s.l. Seismicity at the volcano is increasing. Mittwoch, Jul 13, 2005
The eruption at Colima seems to be decreasing in intensity. During the last week, only weaker explosions, typically 2-3 per day, have been taking place at Colima. However, lahars are remobilizing large amounts of the recent ash deposits and frequently decend ravines especially on the S and E flank of Colima. A visit of the VolcanoDiscovery group on Etna's summit craters found no visible activity from any of the summit craters and no fresh deposits of activity in the recent past. ...mehrDienstag, Jul 12, 2005
Since the 7th of July, seismic activity at Merapi volcano has been increasing and deformation measurements noted displacements of 0-15 cm at the summit area. As a consequence, the Volcanologic Survey of Indonesia raised the the alert level at the volcano to 2. ...mehrSamstag, Jul 09, 2005
The eruptions at Reventador volcano in Ecuador's eastern cordillera continues into early July with the emission of overlapping, thick blocky lava flows, occasional vulcanian explosions, new fumarolic activity on the N flank of the cone, and the emission of steam, gas and ash. ...mehr [alles lesen]Freitag, Jul 08, 2005
Strombolian activity from one of Stromboli's craters as observed on July 8, 2005 (Photo: Ronny Quireynes) The VolcanoDiscovery team is now on Stromboli on the Grand Tour of Italy. Activity at the summit craters is at low to medium levels with a large fluctuation on a scale of several hours to days. ...mehrDonnerstag, Jul 07, 2005
As the USGS reports, a strong explosion occurred at Anatahan on 3 July at 16h46 local time. It produced a SSE-drifting plume reaching a height of ~12.2 km (~40,000 ft) a.s.l. Volcanic fog (vog) was reported to have drifted over the southern parts of the islands of Saipan and Tinian. During the rest of the last week, steam and ash emissions were at lower levels. Mittwoch, Jul 06, 2005
On the 5th of July, a new strong explosion took place at Colima volcano (Mexico), producing an ash plume of about 5 km height (3 miles). Montag, Jul 04, 2005
![]() Press photos distributed by the Japanese Coast Guard, showing the site of a probable undersea eruption of Futuku-okanoba submarine volcano on 3 July 2005. Note the discoloration of the sea-water, as well as floating peices of steaming lava blocks on the surface. A submarine volcano erupted in Japan. It is located about 6 kilometers north-northeast of Minami-Iwojima island in Ogasawaramura (about 1,300 kilometers from Tokyo). Freitag, Jul 01, 2005
Karymsky volcano is showing incread seismic activity. Moderate ash emissions send small plumes to up to 3,000 m (9,800 ft) a.s.l. traveling SW as observed by pilots. On 23 June, the alert level at Karymsky volcano was increased to Concern Color Code Orange. ...mehrneueste (Apr 2013) ... | Nov-Dec 2005 | Sep-Oct 2005 | | Jul-Aug 2005 | Jun 2005 | May 2005 | Archiv
