Since the major dome collapse on February 11, very little activity has been observed at the lava dome of Soufrière Hills volcano.

A partial dome collapse occurred at Montserrat's Soufrière Hills volcano on Feb 11 at around 1 pm local time. Large pyroclastic flows travelled to the NE and reached the sea. A column of ash rose to at least 12 km. ...mehr

Our correspondant in Costa Rica reports a beautiful phreatic eruption at Poas volcano today at noon time. This is the second eruption (after the one on 25 Dec 09) in a short time span.

MVO reported that during 8-15 January activity from the Soufrière Hills lava dome increased significantly. One explosion on 8 January and two on 10 January generated ash plumes that rose to altitudes of 5.5-7.6 km (18,000-25,000 ft) a.s.l. Ash fell in occupied areas to the NW, along with lapilli fall on 10 January. The explosions occurred from an area on the NE side of the volcano. Pyroclastic flows from column collapses moved rapidly NE (down Whites Bottom and Tuitts Ghaut), NW (down Tyers Ghaut and Belham Valley), W (down Gages Ghaut), and the SE (down the Tar River Valley). After the explosions activity decreased until 12 January, when cycles of increased numbers of rockfalls, pyroclastic flows, and ash venting were noted. ...mehr [alles lesen]

Nyamuragira's eruption continues, but the lava output seems to decline. After 5 days, the new lava flows have traveled 21 kilometers and approached the road from Goma to Sae within 7 km. If the eruption continues, the flows may be able to cut the road. ...mehr

During our pilot expedition to the volcanoes of Guatemala in Dec 2009, Santigaguito lava dome was observed between 25-28 Dec. The lava dome produced ash eruptions roughly every 0.5-3 hours with plumes reaching up to 300-1000 m elevation. On one occasion, a small pyroclastic flow was observed travelling down on the SW side of the lava dome.

It is reported that Galeras volcano erupted on santurday 2nd January. There are no reports about destructions or victims.

Nyamuragira volcano (often also spelled Nyamulariga) erupted on Saturday 2nd January. The eruption was located on a fissure on the E flank where violent lava fountains from 4 vents along a new fissure were feeding a new large lava flow advancing towards the Goma-Sake road. Due to armed rebels hiding in the area, access to the eruption is not safely possible.

Piton de la Fournaise Vulkan begrüßt das neue Jahr mit ihrem ersten Ausbruch im Jahr 2010 am 2. Januar. Ein Riss vent im Dolomieu Krater brach Lavafontänen und ein Lavastrom im Inneren des Kraters enthalten, vertieft durch die große Eruption im Jahr 2008. Der Ausbruch folgte ein allmählicher Anstieg inseismic Tätigkeit seit 28 Dezember. Der letzte, sehr kurzlebigen Ausbruch passiert nur etwa 3 Wochen, und es scheint wahrscheinlich, dass Piton de la Fournaise hat eine Periode von häufigen, aber kurze Eruptionen, durch Deiche in seiner hoch gebrochen Gipfel eingespeist eingegeben haben, bilden eine relativ durchlässige zentrale Sanitär-System.
