The lava dome on Montserrat is again growing. The latest USGS/GVP activity report summarizes the recent activity: "MVO reported that pyroclastic flows from the Soufrière Hills lava dome occurred during 11-18 June. One of the largest pyroclastic flows traveled W down Gages Valley; others originated from within the collapse scar. A thermal camera showed several hot areas on the lava dome, likely exposed from rockfall and pyroclastic flow activity. On 28 June a small lahar descended the Belham Valley, to the NW. Gorely volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia seems to have erupted on or before 12 June 2010, after more than 20 years since its last activity. According to The Voice of Russia, the eruption produced an ash plume streching over 100 km and caused disruption of regional air traffic. [alles lesen]

The activity of Yasur has decreased again to normal, but still elevated levels. Bombs are still occasionally falling on the rim and outside, but the frequency and intensity of the explosions is now lower than during late May, when its alert level was raised to 3. Earthquakes were detected in the vicinity of Bezymianny's lava dome during 23-24 May. Fumarolic activity was seen on 21 May and the temperature of the thermal anomaly detected in satellite imagery increased from 18 degrees Celsius on 19 May to 48.8 degrees Celsius on 23 May. So a increase of activity is possible. During 21-28satellite data showed a thermal anomaly over the lava dome and fumarolic activity was detected.Seismic data indicated that an explosive eruption began on 1 June, producing a large ash cloud about 127 by 93 km in dimension. Ash plumes from two explosions rose to altitudes of 8-10 km (26,200-32,800 ft) a.s.l. Ashfall was reported in Kozyrevsk village.
