Rare Fossils from Milos |

There are some areas on Milos island where fossils can be found, i.e. in neogene layers around the town of Adamas. These are rich in fossilized shells. Another area where rare fossils can be found is the former iron-manganese mine of Vani. There the sedimentary layers are changed by hydrothermal solutions and the shells have been changed into silicious material like opale.
