In the center of the Greek volcanic peninsula of Methana a volcano caldera is to be found. The Stavrolongos caldera is a similar volcano like Kelud volcano in Indonesia. In the center of the caldera there is a smaller lava dome that rose up to 15 m. All these eruptions took place about 35.000 years ago. The Stavrolongos caldera is a wonderful place for walking tours and it should be a nature resort. There are many rare kinds of orchids to be found and even wild roses.
