Arrival info:The tour starts and ends in the capital Port Vila on Efate Island where international flights arrive (usually from Brisbane or Sydney in Australia or via Aukland New Zealand). Participants normally arrange their own flight tickets, but on request we can help with that.

The contrast between unspoilt rainforest, coconut palm beaches, primitive culture and moon-like landscapes surrounding lava-spitting volcanoes could not be bigger: join us on an expedition to the two most active volcanoes of Vanuatu: Ambrym and Yasur.
A great mix of adventure, breathtaking landscapes, unspoiled tropical beaches, meeting friendly people and their exotic culture awaits you.

Arrival on Vanuatu (Port Vila, Efate Island)
Arrival at the Airport of Port Vila & transfer to Port Vila town.

Day 2: |
Flight from Port Vila to Craig Cove on Ambrym Island
Flight from Port Vila to Craig Cove on Ambrym Island, lunch, intorduction to our guide Francis & his family. Free afternoon.

Day 3: |
Ascent to the caldera, Bembow volcano with its lava lake.
Ascent to the Ambrym caldera

Day 4: |
Hike to Marum crater and its lava lakes
Hike to Marum (2 hours hike from the Base camp) and observe its usually active lava lakes in the evening / night.

Hike to Bembow crater - possibility to abseil into the crater
Hike to Bembow crater (ca. 1.5 hr) and abseiling into the crater (optional, conditions permitting)

Day 6: |
Second opportunity for Marum or Bembow - descend to the coast
The morning could be used for a second opportunity to look at Marum or Bembow craters. After breaking camp, we descend to the village of Lalinda to meet the hospital and friendly people of Ambrym.

Day 7: |
Flight back to Port Vila
In the morning, we take the flight back to Port Vila. The rest of the day is free and useful as a spare day for organisatorial aspects. For those who only take part in the Ambrym expedition, today is already the last day of the tour
In the evening, we meet for a dinner in a nice waterfront restaurant.

Flight to Tanna - Transfer to Yasur volcano
In the morning, we fly to Tanna island. A 4WD pick-up brings us accross the island to a simple, but charming guesthouse directly at the feet of Mt. Yasur volcano. After lunch, we drive and hike to Yasur volcano to enjoy its spectacular volcanic activity from close, as long as we wish...

Yasur volcano
This day is a spare day in case of delays etc. and otherwise for you to relax and choose the activity of your liking. Problably we will want to dedicate it fully to Yasur volcano, particularly in the evening...

Day-trip to Port Resolution & Shark Bay & Yasur volcano
Day-trip to Port Resolution to see Shark Bay, combined with a magificient sea-food-lobster lunch on one of the world's most beautiful beaches... Visit of Yasur volcano in the evening/night.

Hike to the village of John Frum & local village celebration
Hike to the village of John Frum and swim at the hot volcano springs, traditional celebration of the village people. (Note: this will be done on a Friday)

Visit of Yakel, a traditional village
We stay in the traditional village Yakel and experience a non-modern life in a world without modern tools.
