GAK published a series of photos showing the new activity at Anak Krakatau. A vent located on the S flank of the summit cone formed as pit crater around 23 October; on around 25 October, phreatic (?) and probably phreatomagmatic ash eruptions started from this location, producing clouds of ash 200-300 m high, and occurring at intervals of 3-6 minutes.

Our guide Doni from Indonesia just reported new eruptions at Anak Krakatau and that there are new craters on that volcano island. Also Soputan volcano is getting more active the last days.
Ash plumes from Ubinas rose to altitudes of 5.5-7.3
km (18,000-24,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted NW and NE during 19-20 and 22-23 October.
IG reported that ash plumes from Tungurahua, occasionally noted after
explosions, rose to altitudes of 5.5-9 km (18,000-29,500 ft) a.s.l. during 17-23 October. Plumes drifted all directions, except to the E and SE. On 17 October, incandescent material propelled from the summit by explosions fell onto the flanks. A resultant ash plume drifted W. Fumarolic activity was noted on the NW flank. During 17-18 October, ashfall was reported from areas to the NW, N, and SW. On 19 October, lahars descended NW drainages and consequently the road between Ambato and Baños was closed.
Based on information from JMA, the Tokyo VAAC reported that an
eruption plume from Suwanose-jima rose to an altitude of 1.5 km (5,000 ft) a.s.l. on 22 October and drifted W. Ash was not visible on satellite imagery.
On 17-23 October lava-dome growth at Mount St. Helens continued.
Seismicity persisted at low levels, punctuated by M 1.5-2.5, and occasionally larger, earthquakes. Clouds occasionally inhibited visual observations.
MVO reported that during 17-23 October the lava dome at Soufrière
Hills changed very little, based on visual observations. Seismic activity was very low and low-level rockfall activity continued. On 12 October, a small pyroclastic flow descended about 2 km E down the Tar River valley. A resultant ash plume drifted W. On 23 October, lahars descended down drainages on all sides of the volcano. The Alert Level remained elevated at 4 (on a scale of 0-5). jeudi, janv. 01, 1970
RVO reported that white vapor plumes rose from Rabaul caldera's
Tavurvur cone during 17-22 October. Ash plumes rose to altitudes of 1.2-4.7 km (3,900-15,400 ft) a.s.l. during 17-18 October and drifted S and NNW. Ashfall was reported from areas downwind on 17 October. The ash emissions were intermittently accompanied by roaring noises, and incandescence at the summit was observed during the reporting period.
HVO reported that during 17-23 October fissure segment D from
Kilauea's 21 July fissure eruption continued to feed an advancing lava flow that frequently overflowed its channel edges. Activity was concentrated at the NE end of the channel where 200-500-m-long pahoehoe lobes built out in a fan shape to the NW, N, and SE. On 23 October, a lava flow traveled 1.5 km and entered the remains of a kipuka along the N margin of the flow field. A few small earthquakes were located beneath Halema'uma'u crater and the S flank during the reporting period.
It was reported that seismic activity at Karymsky was above background
levels during 12-19 October and based on seismic interpretation, ash plumes have risen to an altitude of 4.3 km during the reporting period. A thermal anomaly was present in the crater during 14-18 October and ash plumes drifted E during .
Based on a pilot report, the Darwin VAAC reported that a plume from
Karangetang rose to an altitude of 1.5 km (5,000 ft) a.s.l. on 21 October. A plume was not detected on satellite imagery due to cloud cover.
Ash plumes from Chikurachki were visible on
satellite imagery on 17 and 18 October. The Level of Concern Color Code remained at Orange
CVGHM reported that the Alert Level for Kelut remained at 4 (on a
scale of 1-4) during 17-23 October. According to news articles, several thousand evacuated people remained in shelters.
It was reported that seismic activity at Bezymianny was slightly
elevated during 16-19 October and returned to background levels during 19-20 October. Also a strip of ash deposits was noted on the ESE flank on 18 October and a thermal anomaly was present in the crater during 16-20 October. jeudi, oct. 18, 2007
The Alert Level at Ruapehu was lowered to 1 (on a scale of 0-5) on 9 October because no further eruptions have occurred since the activity on 25 September.
Infrequent, mostly small ash eruptions continue at Reventarod volcano. On 11 October, the volcano produced an ash plume that rose to an altitude of 4.6 km (15,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted S.
Fuego volcano continues its moderate strombolian activity; INSIVUMEH reported frequent explosions such as on 10 October that produce ash plumes rising to to altitudes of 4-5 km (13,000-16,400 ft) a.s.l. and mostly drifiting N and NW.
The explosions are often accompanied by rumbling noises and jet-engine like sounds. Avalanches of collapsing spatter from the growing cone in the inner crater descend W into the Taniluyá and Santa Teresa ravines. --- Source: INSIVUMEH
The Center of Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (CVGHM) raised the altert status of Kelut volcano on 16 October from 3 to 4 (on a scale of 1-4). During 15-28 September, gas discharge from the crater lake increased and spread in a radius of 5 m. Inflation around the summit occurred during 13-16 October. On 16 October, the temperature in the crater lake increased to 37.8 degrees C. ...plus [lire toutes]
