Nigorigawa volcano is a geothermal field in the 3 km diameter Nigorikawa caldera on the shores of Uchiura Bay, southern Hokkaido, Japan. The caldera was formed during a major explosive eruption ca. 12,000 years ago.
The caldera-forming eruption of Nigorikawa volcano produced pyroclastic-fall and -surge deposits and pyroclastic-flow deposits that extend northward and westward to the Pacific coast. The town of Nigorigawa is located on the bottom of the flat caldera floor. The Nigorigawa river drains the area through a gap of the NW caldera rim.
