Lava flows continue entering the ocean since November 2012 in multiple points, due to increased pressure on the volcano which is also causing other lava breakouts on the coast and the lava lakes within Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō & Halema‘uma‘u craters to rise and potentially spill over. [details]

HIKE as close as safely possible, when it's possible! Lava flows are not accessible every day due to the quickly-changing eruption, but when they are, we can get you there & back for the best chance to see red, active lava close-up & safely!

If there's no lava, we hike a 10mi/16km round-trip offering the closest legal sunset view of the active Pu‘u ‘O‘o vent on an epic 8-hr tour. (Too far? Choose the National Park or Kalapana & Kapoho instead, with LAVA PRIORITY option when possible to include the lava hike within your specified limits, or see lava from a distance if it's too far.)
