The area of the so called Siebengebirge mountains is situated east of the former German capitol city Bonn. The mountainious area is characterized by many old volcanoes and it also one of the first natural heritage parks in Germany. It is a ideal place to visit quarries of basalt and trahite. There are mainly lava domes and magmatic intrusions to be found.
