Takuan volcan

Takuan is a group of stratovolcanoes in the SE part of Bougainville Island in the Crown Prince Ranges, Papua New Guinea.
The group contains 3 closely spaced, NW-SE-trending andesitic-dacitic stratovolcanoes and 2 small lava domes. The volcanoes are densely forested, but 2 of them are only little eroded and have probably been active during the past 10,000 years.

Introduction:

Mount Takuan is the highest of the group and is similar to active Bagana volcano. It is mainly composed of thick lava flows, which have flows to the south.
The summit of Takuan has a large breached summit crater 0.9 km wide with a lava dome. This dome is probably the youngest feature of the Takuan volcanic group.
Along with Loloru volcano, the Takuan volcanoes have formed after a the collapse of the large Pleistocene Laluai caldera and have been built along its rim.
