Introduction:Several edifice-collapse events occurred during the evolution of Cerro Tuzgle volcano. An older caldera and a perhaps related rhyodacitic ignimbrite deposit can still be recognized. A lava dome complex was constructed on the rim of the caldera. Later andesitic lava flows covered much of the dome complex and partially filled the caldera.(Source: GVP volcano information) |
