On June 21 the new volcanological museum of Nisyros was opened at the village Nikia. The rich exhibition shows all volcanological phenomena and many rock samples. Many photographs of active volcanoes are provided by VolcanoDiscovery (by Dr. Tom Pfeiffer). At the celebration the most important politicians of the region took part at the opening ceremony. The new museum was planned and designed by a team around the Greek geologist Dr. Giorgis Voujoukalakis and Dr. Michalis Fytikas. ... [details]
