New discoveries of petrified trees at the area of Agia Paraskevi show that there has been a dense forest 17 Million years ago on the western part of the island of Lesbos. New excavations under the palaeontologist Prof. Nikos Sourou show about 45 species of trees. Some even in the original position with their roots. In future it is planned to include the new items in the geopark of Lesbos island.
