Suoh volcan

Maar 1000 m (3,281 ft)
Sumatra, Indonésie, -5.25°S / 104.27°E
Condition actuelle: en sommeil (1 sur 5)
Style éruptif tipique:

Strong hydrothermal activity, phreatic eruptions.

Eruptions du volcan Suoh : 1933 (large phreatic eruption at Pematang Bata), 1994 (very small phreatic explosions after earthquake on Feb. 15)
The 8 x 16 km Suoh depression appears to be primarily of tectonic origin, but contains historically active maars and silicic lava domes along its margins.

Introduction:

Numerous hot springs occur along faults within the depression, which contains the Pematang Bata fumarole field. Large phreatic explosions (0.2 cu km tephra) occurred at the time of a major tectonic earthquake in 1933.
Very minor hydrothermal explosions produced two 5-m-wide craters 2 weeks after an earthquake (Magnitude 7.2) on the 15th of February 1994.
