Fuego volcano seismogram reflecting the activity today
On 29 July, INSIVUMEH observed 6 explosions producing gray columns reaching heights of 300 m and drifting to the W and NW and causing avalanches of incandescent material on the upper flanks. Glowing bombs were seen ejected to up to 100 m above the crater and strong rumbling and jet-engine like sounds accompanied the explosions.
The lava flow toward Taniluya canyon is 250 m long, and glowing lava blocks detach from its front and tumble down to the vegetation line. Strong wind sometimes whiles up dust and ash clouds of up to 700 m height.

Fuego volcano continues to produce lava flows and strong strombolian explosions, and CENAPRED and CONRED warn about possibly pyroclastic flows that could be generated by collapsing lava flow fronts and incandescent material rolling down the steep upper slopes of the volcano as has occurred before during the ongoing strong eruptive phase. It is therefore recommended not to stay within canyons in the vicinity of the volcano. The CONRED system maintains constant monitoring. [more]
