Aluchin Group

The Aluchin volcanic group is a cluster of 4 young cinder cones located in the Bilibino Region, in the Aluchin and Burgakhchan river basins in western Chukotka (Siberia). The cinder cones of Aluchin volcano could have erupted less than 10,000 years ago.

The Aluchin volcanoes belong to an intraplate hot-spot volcanic province in Siberia which also comprise several volcanoes including the beautiful extinct Anyuy volcano.
The younger Aluchin group contains 4 young cinder cones, which were named Alpha-1, Alpha-2, Beta and Gamma.
Alpha-1 and -2 at the western foot of Alpha-1 are in the Bolotnaya river valley, 1.5. km west of Aluchin river. Alpha-1 is a 70 m high and over 800 m wide cone, and has a crater which is 580 m wide and 25 m deep.
Beta is in the Aluchin river valley 5 km SE of the Alpha-1 and -2 group. It is a 50 m high and 740 m wide cone and has a 200-270 m crater.
Gamma is 1.3 km SW of Beta and is a 40 m high and 440 m wide cone with a 90 m wide crater.
A 2-8 km wide basaltic lava flow north of Beta and Gamma extends over 85 km length.
