Yogya - Bromo - Ijen - Bali 4 daysNote:
This itinerary involves a long land transfer on the leg between Yogya and East Java. An interesting alternative could be a train ride from Yogya to Malang instead.
Day 1:
Yogyakarta - Tawangmangu - Temple Sukuh - Malang
Transfer from Yogya to Lawu volcano, hike (ca. 2-3 hrs) through rice fields and rainforest to a waterfall and the famous hindu Suku temple located in a scenic spot on the slope of mighty Lawu volcano. In the afternoon, continue to drive to Malang, the charming university town on the western rim of the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru national park. Acc.: : good hotel in downtown Malang (L, D)
Day 2:
Jeep ride into the Tengger volcano massiv - Bromo
Scenic drive into the Tengger caldera via an impressive route on open jeeps to enjoy the dramatic landscape of deep valleys and steep cliffs. Acc.: : hotel or bungalows on the rim of the Tengger caldera overlooking Bromo volcano (B, L, D)
Day 3:
Sunrise over the Tengger Kaldera - Transfer to Ijen volcano
Jeep (or hike) to sunrise viewpoint - transfer to Ijen Plateau, coffee plantations, hot bath in nearby natural hot volcanic springs. Acc.: : guesthouse at coffee plantation near Ijen (B, L, D)
Day 4:
Kawah Ijen volcano - return to Bali or Surabaya

Sunrise excursion to overview of Bromo - rainforest of the National Park - observation of Semeru volcano

Day 4:
Transfer to Ijen volcano
