Tour guide:This tour is regularly offered and accompanied either by a volcanologist (usually Tom) from our team and/or by our partner, Krakatau specialist and photographer Oystein Lund Andersen who lives in Jakarta and uses most of his weekends to travel to volcanoes in Indonesia.

The itinerary is a sample for a short trip out and in Jakarta with 2 nights on Krakatau. Modifications (e.g. spend more days on the islands) are possible on request. Also, keep in mind that weather, sea and volcanic conditions might make changes necessary. Day 1: Jakarta - transfer to the West coast
Minibus transfer with the group from Jakarta to a beach resort on the W coast of Java, facing the infamous island group of Krakatoa. Delicious lunch in a local Sundanese restaurant on the way. While our tour guide finalizes the preparations for the overnight excursion to Krakatoa, you have the afternoon to do as you wish: opportunity to stroll on the beach, sunbathe, (if the sea is calm) swim, explore local markets etc. If you are curious to see the background preparation, you are welcome to join the guide while shopping for food, inspecting the boat etc.

Day 2-3: 2 days / 2 nights on Krakatau
Early morning departure with speed-boat to Krakatau. 2 full days in a camp on Anak Krakatau or one of the neighbor islands, to observe the (hopefully still ongoing) eruption.

Day 4: Return to West Coast - transfer to Jakarta - flight back to Europe (& America)
In the morning, we break camp and return to the west coast. After lunch we return to Jakarta in time for the flight back home (arrival in Europe next morning) (connection to America or stopover in Europe).
