This small-group sailing cruise takes you to discover the Eolian Islands from their most scenic side, the sea.
The tour offers something for almost everyone: if you like to go hiking, there are many options for excursions on each island. While at Vulcano and Stromboli, one should not miss climbing to the summit craters and see some of the most impressive volcanic fireworks in the world. At Lipari, we can visit the famous and spectacular obsidian lava flows and pumice deposits, or go shopping in the buzzing Medieval city of Lipari town with its narrow alleys perched around the impressive castle.
The choice is yours what to do...- by boat, we'll visit some splendid beaches only accessible from the sea where snorkeling and swimming is a dream. Or you can relax on deck, enjoying the sound of waves and the delicious breeze of the blue Tyrrhenian Sea around you.

8 days itinerary

Note:
The itinerary provided should be read as an indication. The guide and commander of the gulet reserve the right to change the itinerary in the case of adverse weather conditions.
If weather conditions are unsailable, an alternative group itinerary will be proposed by your guide, however should you wish to do anything extra (beyond the amended program) the cost for this would be at the client’s own expenses. No refund is given in case of cancellation or changes from the above itinerary.
Day 1: Milazzo
Arrival in Sicily and make your own way (allow approximately 2 hours by bus from Catania airport and 2h30 by train from Palermo airport) to the port of Milazzo (on request, we can arrange private transfer for you at extra cost).
From 16.30 you can board the gulet and check into your cabins. At 19.00 is the welcome meeting (including a complimentary cocktail) with your guide who will brief you on the itinerary for the week. Night transfer to Vulcano.

Day 2: Vulcano Island
In the morning transfer to the Island of Vulcano, well-known for its thermal mud and gas fumaroles. Free time for your first dip in the sea or simply relax by one of the many beaches or hot thermal springs on the island. In the afternoon we walk to the crater of Vulcano.

Day 3: Lipari Island
Transfer to the Island of Lipari, the capital of the Eolie Islands, famous for its castle (dating back to the 16th Century), which rises majestically with its titanic bastions right above the sea. We hike around the south of Lipari, between vineyards and terraces overlooking the sea. In the afternoon we set sail for the north, stopping briefly at the famous beach where we can see the pumice stone (“Pietra Pomice”) and head for the Island of Salina.

Day 4: Salina Island -> Stromboli
Day 4: Salina (4hrs walking, ascent/descent + 150m – 290m)
In the morning we take a short trip sailing along the south coast of the Island of Salina. We disembark at the little port of Rinella and transfer by bus in order to enjoy our trekking along the coast of Monte dei Porri and down to the beautiful bay of Pollara (used as a backdrop in many films). Stop for a swim, then lunch is served on board as we sail towards Stromboli.

Day 5: Crater of Stromboli volcano
In the morning we tour the islands by boat, with stops in the quaint village of Ginostra and swimming on the small island of Strombolicchio. Lunch is served on board and in the afternoon we visit the volcanology centre of Stromboli, before heading with our volcanologist guide to the top of Stromboli, safely enjoying the explosive activity at night. We enjoy dinner in a pizzeria in Stromboli before spending the night on board the gulet.

Day 6: Panarea Island
We sail to the Island of Panarea, the smallest of the seven islands. Stop for a swim near the small islands of Basiluzzo and Lisca Bianca, characterised by the turquoise-coloured sea. In the afternoon we walk towards the prehistoric village of Capo Milazzese and there is free time to visit the nice fishing village of Panarea. Finally, we sail to Lipari and enjoy dinner and overnight on board.

Day 7: Lipari Island
Transfer by bus to the village of Quattropani and we walk around the west of the island of Lipari towards the ancient spa town of San Calogero. In the afternoon there is free time to visit the interesting historical centre of Lipari. We sail to Milazzo and enjoy dinner and overnight on board there.

Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, depending on departure times, make your own way to Catania Airport.

Arrival info:

The tour starts and end in the port of Milazzo, Sicily, about 1.5-2 hrs driving from Catania airport. We can arrange transfers to and from airports etc. on request.

The traditional boat (gulet) Altinlar, built in the late 1990’s, is of an excellent standard, with LCD TV, MP3 and DVD. It has 6 double cabins (for a maximum of 12 guests) all with low bed (French-style), with the possibility to add a third bed in 2 of the cabins.
All cabins are en-suite with showers and hot water.
The nights we spend in the small harbors/bays we will be attached by an anchor and you will need a tender boat to reach the port or land. 2 triple cabins are available on request.
