 Before we climbed at 16.00, 14 May, there was pre eruption ejecting ash material until 500-700 mtr, and some little bombs near the rim, but there were no other explosions afterwards. This new crater was producing small strombolian eruptions ("lava fountains").

As a recent visit to Anak Krakatau shows, the summit lava dome inside the crater continues to grow. So far, no significant explosive activity seems to have taken place, but that could change quickly.

An active lava dome is growing inside the summit crater of Krakatau volcano. Our tour expedition leader Andi just returned from a visit and reports that the dome is now about 100 m wide, and has 2 main active vents that eject jets of incandescent gas. ...
