A magnitude 3.1 earthquake followed by a swarm of small quakes occurred on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland yesterday afternoon at 16:33 GMT. The quakes are about 10 km SW of Krisuvik volcano in Iceland and located at around 7 km depth.

A seismic swarm occurred at Krisuvik volcano on 18 Aug, and consisted of 43 mostly very small (below M1) quakes at depths of mostly around 5 km. The largest event was a M1.8 quake at 5.4 km depth. [more]
