No changes have occurred - the only signs of activity are small earthquakes, mostly related to rock fracturing inside the volcano SE of the main dome. The alert status remains at yellow.

On April 13 at 15:54 (local time), a volcano-tectonic earthquake of magnitude 2.8 associated with rock fracturing within the volcanic edifice occurred southwest of the main dome a depth of 7.4 km, and was felt by residents near the volcano, in the municipality of Cajamarca, in the village of Toche and the area known as Moral (Tolima).

Seismic activity remains elevated with frequent earthquake swarms. A probably shallow swarm occurred yesterday, but has now eased again. INGEOMINAS locates most volcanic-tectonic earthquakes in an area SE of the dome at depths between 3.5 - 8 km. No surface activity has been observed (yet).

Earthquakes continued to occur and were located mainly south of the main dome and the southeast of it in the area between Moral and Moralito at depths between 3 and 15 km. 2 significant quakes of local magnitudes 3.2 and 3.7 occurred on 14 and 16 Dec at 16:51 and 19:16 in the Moralito sector and were felt by residents near the volcano, and in the towns of Cajamarca and Ibague. Other parameters monitored have no significant changes.

On December 7, 2012 at 05:47 (local time) a magnitude 3.1 volcano-tectonic earthquake occurred at 14.6 km depth southeast of main dome. The quake was felt by residents near the volcano, and in the towns of Cajamarca and Ibague.

Some weak seismic activity was located south of the main dome at depths ranging between 3 and 5 km. Additionally, there were earthquakes located to the southeast of the dome in the sector between Moral and Moralito. The earthquake of greatest magnitude during the week was a 1.0 (Local Magnitude ML) on September 29 at 10:15 (local time). No other changes were noted at the volcano.

At 07:32 local time 9 Sep, a 3.6 magnitude quake occurred at 3.2 km depth beneath the summit of the volcano. Seismicity had been elevated since 8 Sep and stronger than normal seismic activity has been following the quake today. This is the most energetic seismic activity at the volcano for probably more than a year.

There was reported a unusual seismicity south at the Machin volcano dome during 6-8 January 2008. There have been reported also volcano-tectonic seismic signals that show that a volcanic activity may occur soon.
