Manam volcano (Papua New Guinea): residents pledge government to find a solution for residents living in refugees camp

Tuesday Aug 21, 2012 07:06 AM | BY: T

John Sukua from Manam Island (PNG) sent us the following message, with an appeal to Human Rights organizations to assist the government in finding a more human solution for residents that have been displaced in camps for now over 8 years since the ongoing activity of the volcano:

"
I am from one of the most active volcano's in PNG, Manam Island. With current volcanic eruptions activities on the island and displaced islanders have been living in care centre refugees camp for over 8 years now since 2004. We have no hope in permanent resettlement on mainland Bogia, Madang Province, PNG.
Any world Human Rights group out there who can assist us and bring our long suffering problems to respective world organizations that can raise this matter to PNG Government to take action against such in human long delaying tactics.
