Patuha volcano is an old, forest-covered twin volcano with two craters 600 m apart located SW of Bandung city, the capital of West Java. One of its craters is being mined for sulphur.

Background:

The volcano is andesitic in composition. Its two craters are aligned NW-SE. The NW-most crater is the highest and dry, while Kawah Putih, the second crater has a shallow greenish-white crater lake and is mined for sulfur.
Lahar and large debris-avalanche deposits are present up to 20 km NE of the volcano. The volcano was formed during the late Pleistocene, but no historical eruptions are known from Patuha.
