Stromboli volcano: strong activity July 2011

During our recent Stromboli to Etna tour, our group climbed Stromboli volcano on 15 July with a mountain guide and were lucky to have excellent weather and very strong activity from several vents. In particular, spectacular activity was occurring from the NE cone, which exploded large liquid lava bubbles, showering the outside flank with glowing bombs.
