Stromboli eruption 2007: photos

A new big flank eruption, the first one after 2003, started on Stromboli on 27 February 2007. During this (ongoing) eruption, several effusive vents opened on the Sciara del Fuoco between 400 and around 600 m elevation. They erupted fast-flowing lava flows that reached the sea at the eastern end of the Sciara, where they created a new peninsula at the foot of the Sciara. Tom visited the island during 3-12 March. Grouped into different galleries, we present you some of the impressions about the eruption. (more will follow in the next days).

Thanks for supporting our field work goes to Sergio Ballaro, Barbara Engele, the mountain guides from Magmatrek, the staff of Protezione Civile, INGV, and members of the Guardia di Finanza.
