Sakurajima volcano (Kyushu, Japan) activity update: strong and frequent explosions, ash rising to 3.4 km

After taking some breath for about 24 hours, Sakurajima erupted with 4 relatively strong explosions during the past 24 hours alone. Two of them (this morning at 09:39 and at 18:57 local time) produced ash rising to 11,000 ft or 3.4 km altitude, VAAC Tokyo reports.
