Nicaragua's San Cristobal volcano erupted yesterday (8 Sep) morning and produced an tall ash column that initially may have rises up to about 32,000 ft (10 km) altitude (about 8 km above the crater) and later quickly decreased.

3000 people from the nearaby villages La Bolsa, Versalles, El Pando, Pellisco and Apazate in the rural northwestern department of Chinandega were evacuated as precaution. No damages or injuries have been reported.
San Cristobal is a young symmetrical 1745-m-high stratovolcano that erupted nearly every year. It is the country's highest and and one of its most active volcanoes.
