Seismic data suggest a phase of increased activity occurred at Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador on 29 July, but there are no recent reports of new ash emissions. At the moment, the seismicity is rather calm.

On 13 June ash plumes rose 2-2.5 km above the crater and drifted NE and N. Ashfall was reported in Cusúa (8 km NW) and Bilbao (8 km W). An explosion the next day caused windows to vibrate in areas 8 km SW and N. Steam plumes rose 0.5-2 km above the crater during 16-18 June. Windows in Manzano (8 km SW) vibrated during 18-19 June, and ashfall was reported in Palitagua, Runtún (6 km NNE), and Choglontús (SW). [more]

Ecuador's Instituto Geofísico (IG) reported an increase in tremor at Tungurahua volcano associated with a new phase of ash venting starting on 3 June evening and continuing into the morning of 4 June. Ash plumes were drifting NW and NE and producing light ash fall. [more]
