Tungurahua has moderate seismic activity with a weak tremor signal. A small emission was registered at 01:59 local time yesterday. Mostly the volcano is covered in clouds.

Seismic data suggest a phase of increased activity occurred at Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador on 29 July, but there are no recent reports of new ash emissions. At the moment, the seismicity is rather calm.

On 13 June ash plumes rose 2-2.5 km above the crater and drifted NE and N. Ashfall was reported in Cusúa (8 km NW) and Bilbao (8 km W). An explosion the next day caused windows to vibrate in areas 8 km SW and N. Steam plumes rose 0.5-2 km above the crater during 16-18 June. Windows in Manzano (8 km SW) vibrated during 18-19 June, and ashfall was reported in Palitagua, Runtún (6 km NNE), and Choglontús (SW).

On 7 June lahars traveled SW down the Mapayacu drainage, carrying blocks 10-20 cm in diameter. Lahars also descended the Achupashal (NW) and El Confesionario (WSW) drainages, causing a temporary closure of the Baños-Penipe highway. ...
