  • The earthquake map for Greece includes now published and revised earthquake data from the Hellenic Seismic Network (HL) operated by the Institute of Geodynamics of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) as well. This includes many small to very small quakes as well not published by the larger agencies (EMSC, USGS). This is why a larger number of quakes are shown in this area.

List and interactive maps of recent earthquakes for specific regions: Greece, Italy, Hawaii, US and more

Our interactive volcano and earthquake map can be easily configured to show earthquakes for specific individual regions (so far, only volcanic regions are considered).
As an example, almost all recent quakes (>M2) in Greece can be viewed at:
earthquakes.volcanodiscovery.com/map/Greece.

Similarly, other regions can be selected by changing the name in the URL. Some examples:

Italy: earthquakes.volcanodiscovery.com/map/Italy
Iceland: earthquakes.volcanodiscovery.com/map/Iceland
USA: earthquakes.volcanodiscovery.com/map/US
Hawai'i: earthquakes.volcanodiscovery.com/map/Hawaii

A large M6.6 earthquake occurred on or near Simeulu Island, west of Sumatra, Indonesia. Preliminary data from USGS indicate a magnitude of 6.6 and an epicenter depth of about 45 km. The quake is located approx. 100 km east of the Sunda trench marking the subduction of the Indo-Australian under the Southeast Asian lithospheric plate. [more]
