San Cristobal volcano had a new moderate explosion on the evening of 11 Sep shortly before 20h00, INETER reports. Seismic activity remains elevated.

An increase of activity from Fuego volcano has been noted. The explosions are getting stronger and the lava flow has increased to 150 m length.

Santiaguito volcano had a moderate explosion yesterday at 05:38 with a gray ash plume of 700 m height that drifted 3 km SW, where light ash fall occurred. Otherwise, there are weak rumblings and a constant steam plume.

The strong steaming at Pacaya observed a few days ago and probably caused by increased rainwater infiltration has declined back to normal levels (about 100 m plume). Seismic activity remains slightly elevated with some quakes and tremor pulses apparent.

After taking some breath for about 24 hours, Sakurajima in Japan erupted with 4 relatively strong explosions during the past 24 hours alone. Two of them produced ash rising to 11,000 ft or 3.4 km altitude, VAAC Tokyo reports.

Swarms of small quakes and longer tremor pulses appear on the seismic recordings of Sotará volcano. They seem elevated compared to the recent days.

Tungurahua volcano has further calmed down, with reduced SO2 emissions, no more volcanic quakes and no indication of inflation. It appears that the last eruptive episode until the end of August can be considered over, the last bulletin of IGPEN suggests.

Little Sitkin volcano: Elevated seismicity continues. A phase of volcanic tremor earlier today is apparent on the seismogram.

The number of earthquakes under El Hierro has increased since 10 Sep and there now about 20 quakes per day, in the same area as during the past weeks, in the western El Golfo bay and at 10 km depth.

A strong SO2 plume can be seen drifting SE from Ambrym volcano on Vanuatu today.

At the moment, there are no new eruptions from San Cristobal volcano and the seismic signal looks rather quiet as well. As INETER mentions in its latest bulletin, explosions could resume, as an elevated SO2 output suggests that more magma is under way. ... [more]
