The strong seismic swarm at the Tjörnes Fracture Zone north of Island seems to have ended.
The number of earthquakes under El Hierro remains elevated with about 20 quakes a day (25 yesterday, 5 so far today). The quakes are located mostly in 2 zones, in the western El Golfo and central part of the island. While most quakes are at bout 20 km depth, several ones have occurred at shallower depth between 6-10 km as well.
Santorini volcano, Greece: In recent days, many posts have spring up again speculating about increased seismic activity at Santorini. We cannot see any such. The live seismic recordings show normal noise, day-time activities and weather signals as well as spikes from quakes throughout the region all the time but most likely has not much to do with the volcano. No unusual concentration of earthquakes is visible near the island in the past weeks.
Popocatépetl volcano's activity has not changed much during the past days. The volcano has about 1-2 weak mostly steam explosions per hour, the larger of which contain small amounts of ash. A strong SO2 plume can be seen on satellite and there is night-time glow above the crater.
Fuego volcano, Guatemala has sporadic explosions (about 10 per day) with ash plumes up to 1 km height. Incandescent material falling back on the slopes generates small avalanches of 500-800 m length on the steep upper slopes. Light ash fall occurrs in nearby areas.
Santiaguito INSIVUMEH reports only steaming from the lava dome, but the seismic signal still shows what probably are near-constant rockfalls from the steep slopes and still active (?) lava flows on its flanks.
Seismicity remains elevated at San Miguel volcano in El Salvador but has decreased compared to a week ago.
In Nicaragua, volcanoes have not shown any major changes and mostly remained calm. San Cristobal volcano shows a number of volcanic quakes and long-period events on the seismic recordings during the past days, but there have not been any reports of new activity.
Lot of seismic activity appears on the seismic recording of Telica volcano and suggests that some activity goes on at the volcano.
Sakurajima volcano seems to be back at relatively low levels with 1-2 modest explosions on average daily over the past days.

During a visit to the summit crater of Etna volcano this afternoon, we could hear deep-seated explosion sounds at intervals of few minutes from the Voragine pit crater, suggesting that some activity is going on deep (several 100 m) within its conduit. Sporadic explosive activity from adjacent Bocca Buova ceased about a week ago according to the Etna mountain guides. ... [more]

Volcanoes seem to be more active on weekends or towards the end of weeks, and lazier on Mondays... There has not been much activity really worth to report we could find. ... [more]
