Piton de la Fournaise (La Réunion Island): new short-lived eruption 9-10 Dec 2010Friday Dec 10, 2010 21:45 PM | Age: 1 yrs
Piton de la Fournaise volcano on La Réunion island erupted for the 3rd time. The eruption started yesterday 9 Dec at 22h42 local time following two seismic crisis. The eruption started from a fissure located on the outside N flank of the cone of Dolomieu summit crater about 1 km away and feeds a lava flow. The flows traveled about 1.5 km N and NW. The next day (10 Dec) the eruption stopped as indicated by the end of lava emission and seismicity and deformation measurements.
