Although not up to date when it comes to recent eruptions and recent research, this book, unfortunately out of print and hard to get nowadays, is still a classic work about Etna. Very well written, it covers many aspects of the phenomenon volcano of Etna, from the ethymology of its name, the cultural history of its environment, Etna's, detailed accounts of past eruptions (prior to 86), geological background and the volcano's evolution.
