The activity at the volcano has been increasing during the past few weeks associated with fluctuating seismicity.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported that steam and gas plume rose 1,312 ft (400 m) above the summit.
An eruption could occur with no warning.
The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows could affect an area of about 2 km distance from the main crater.
