Early on 3 July 2015, a rare and spectacular pyroclastic flow occurred at Batu Tara volcano that traveled approx. 150 m over the sea. A medium to strong eruption from Batu Tara on 2 July 2015 forms a sustained jet of bombs and ash that rises several hundred meters. Taken during our last expedition:

Spectacular volcanic eruption at Batu Tara volcano, Indonesia

Strong strombolian explosion from Batu Tara volcano (Flores Sea, Indonesia) on the evening of 2 July 2015. The eruption is preceded by a gradual build-up with increasing degassing and rockfalls as a result of inflation of the crater.
