Batu Tara volcano, Indonesia: spectacular video of pyroclastic flow traveling over the seaSunda Islands, Indonesia, -7.79°S / 123.58°E
Early on 3 July 2015, a rare and spectacular pyroclastic flow occurred at Batu Tara volcano that traveled approx. 150 m over the sea. It was caused by the collapse of the eruption column and accumulated loose material on the crater rim, following a strong, mass-rich explosion from the volcano. Video taken early on 3 July 2015 by Martin Siering (http://www.martinsieringphotography.de/), one of the participants on our recent expedition to Batu Tara volcano (http://www.volcano-adventures.com/eruption-special-expeditions.html).

Spectacular volcanic eruption at Batu Tara volcano, Indonesia
Strong strombolian explosion from Batu Tara volcano (Flores Sea, Indonesia) on the evening of 2 July 2015. The eruption is preceded by a gradual build-up with increasing degassing and rockfalls as a result of inflation of the crater. Immediately before the explosion, glow becomes visible as the magma is about to break through the crust sealing the vent. Spectactuar close-up of large explosion at Batu Tara volcano
During 1-4 Nov, a group of VolcanoDiscovery visited the remote Batu Tara volcano in the Flores Sea, Indonesia. The following video was taken by documentary filmmaker Michael Dalton (http://digitalcrossing.ca) and shows an unusually large strombolian eruption at the volcano. It is a preview for the upcoming program on Oasis/Love Nature: http://www.oasishd.ca Volcano updates & info: http://www.volcanodiscovery.com/batu-tara/news.html
